Thought of the day: Gimp is a great friend of mine, but I still love Photoshop better. Today I tried CS2, which is free for download, after more than one year of Gimp only. That’s why I ended up playing with this photo a bit more than I should have.

Anyway, today’s photo could be called artsy by some, or it can be called lazy, because, for the third post in a row, there’s only one photo.

The truth? That’s what I felt inspired to do these days. I hope you like the result

Do I need to talk about the hair? It’s Dolce by LeLutka and, obviously, I had to have it. The dress by AD Creations is available at Fashion for Life.

The skin is a free pack by CStar Skins, available on the marketplace. I found out about it on the Free*Style blog, because fellow blogger Sileny Noel posted it (I strongly advice  checking that blog for awesome tips!)

The 2013 Oscar Fashion Photo Contest is here! Harper Ganesvoort is inviting ladies (and gents) to get ready for the virtual Academy Awards.

Get your best evening outfit, a fancy hairdo and show your look for the red carpet on Flickr and Koinup. You will have fun and, if you’re lucky, you can earn cash and store credit, because the competition comes with prizes too!

I did a lot of thinking about my entry. Why? Because it’s one of my favourite photo contests in SL and because this gives me the chance to dress Moniq in a formal attire. Both my avatar and I are the casual, day-wear type, but we both love playing the movie stars from time to time. Last year, I dressed Moniq in an Angelina Jolie-style daring dress, which gave me an honorable mention.

This year, I had Sarah Jessica Parker in mind. As she said on the stage at the Golden Globe (I think) awards a few years ago: “Yes, my dress IS see-through”. So here’s another daring outfit for my 2013 Oscar photo contest.  Don’t let the pose fool you. Just because you don’t see legs in the photo, it does not mean they’re not visible at all in that dress!

As usual, Alika Karu of AD Creations makes amazing outfits. This dress also includes a bone collar and bone gloves, to make it totally edgy. It only comes in one size, but this dress required minimal shape tweaking.

The hair is, obviously, LeLutka. Everyone and their mother must have it already and that’s a good thing, because it’s an amazing style. The Caroline’s Jewelry statement pearl necklace was the perfect addition for the outfit.

Runaway bride

I have a confession. I’m not fond of Valentine’s Day. Not because of its meaning (and I don’t mean the Saint Valentine one), but because of what it brings along: a horde of red and pink stuff, balloons, hearts. pom-poms, red hearts, pink balloons, violets are blue and so on.

All that makes me Tard grumpy. And some more!

I do not think that people need a special day to tell someone “I love you”, to give them presents and love notes. There’s about 365 days a year to do that. It’s the same thing as Christmas: one does not have to be a better person because of the holidays, but because he or she wants to be a better person. All year long. Otherwise, there is no point.

And with this rant behind us, I have a gorgeous wedding dress to show you! Aliza Karu, the owner of AD Creations, always comes up with unique designs and has an impressive way of mixing mesh, sculpts and flexi (and this is coming from someone who never really liked flexi!). The only downside of this dress is that it only comes in one size, so it will not fit any shape. I had to tweak Moniq’s quite a bit to make it fit.

Also, I dropped by LeLutka to check the new hair. Of the three 1920′s styles just releases, I chose Josephine. And the best part? LeLutka has naturals packs! Maybe they had it for a while already, but it’s the first time I saw them.

The skin on Moniq was a group gift by PXL Creations, but, sadly, it is gone now (I know, I should have blogged it earlier )

A princess in a cage

I felt inspired by a new prop released by Diesel Works – actually two of them, but I’m sort of not feeling very bright these days  – for an almost black & white post.

Also, this was a great occasion to use the cute Noodles tiara that I won at the Arcade gacha. I’m not the pretty princess type but those were too cute not to give them a play.
